| Omschrijving: | Hualopu Foundationis an organisation that has been founded on November 18,1990.
The name of Hualopu comes from a folk tale from Maluku Tengah (Middle Moluccas).
According to this story, the bird Hualopu took pity on a baby, who was abandoned by his mother.
Hualopu is expressing the way Yayasan is paying attention to the Moluccan society and the environment.
Working field
Hualopu Foundation devotes itself to maintaining the living conditions and functioning as an information centre on environmental problems.
Hualopu Foundationaims at the improvement of the living standard of the society, taking into account the ecological durability.
Programs/Projects
The working subject of Hualopu Foundation is "Pengololaan Kawasan Pesisir Berbasis Kerakyatan" (Community Based Coastal Management, better known under the abbreviation CBCRM) and has the following program:
-Management in the frame of CBCRM.
Hualopu has carried out various national and international NGO programs in the Moluccas.
-Information- and service centre
Hualopu is engaged on the expansion of a network on information and service on the Lease-islands and Ambon. The organisation is also taking care of the cooperative interrelationship on local, regional and national level.
-Society redevelopment
Together with local working-groups Hualopu is working at the environmental issue. Moreover Hualopu attends to that the local population will be trained skilfully.
-Inventory
Among other things Hualopu has investigated the resources on the Moluccas. Together with fishermen they are trying to register the fish-abundant water areas.
Hualopu makes use of the revaluation of the adat as a guide-line in dealing with society and the environment.
Since January 1999 on account of the disturbances in Ambon, Hualopu Foundation, has joined the Platform TIRUS (Tim Relawan Untuk Kemanusiaan) to offer help to victims and refugees.
